Smarter, cost effective and independent design packages

Your one-stop shop for LV electrical engineering for offshore wind foundations

Hyndla delivers 3D modelling, electrical and mechanical interfacing, and supplier- neutral design packages for offshore wind clients. We are experts in structural analysis and product design using and use FEM analysis and 3D modeling to optimize the design process, documentation, material selection and product design. Our engineering and procurement consultancy is not tied up to any single supplier, which allows you to choose from multiple suppliers, ensuring high quality products, local content and competitive tender bidding.

Using Hyndla instead of multiple suppliers for the engineering of cable management, lighting, earthing, cable routing, handrail and instrument supports will:

  • Reduce cost and time spent managing interfaces.

  • Reduce TQs, VOR, and claims once the project hits construction.

  • Reduce the price of the mechanical parts by more than 30%.

  • Reduce galvanic corrosion and earthing problems at interfaces. Fewer yellow cables means less maintenance.

  • Invite competition at the yard on lights, cable management, mechanical parts, etc.

  • Reduce contract risk: Hyndla signs an engineering contract with liability, insurances, etc., covered. Today, much work is carried out without contracts, in violation of owner specifications.

3D model your system from concept to construction

Hyndla is the only engineering company that handles cable management detailing of TPs in-house. We are experts on 3D design and calculation services relating to the small details often forgotten—the devil lies in the details!

Our 3D capabilities and engineering judgements will reduce uncertainties and save cost from the invitation-to-tender and onwards.

  • Better management of the engineering model through its lifecycle.

  • Professional and liable engineering of the electrical package.

  • Increased local content, with the same solution made available to mechanical workshops worldwide through open source production drawings.

  • Decreased carbon footprint with local sourcing of components.

  • Better supply chain management.

Fit-for-purpose lifecycle engineering model

Hyndla offers fit for purpose data models, and can at any point in the project dynamically switch between level of details so that your engineers always have relevant and efficient models at hand. Compared to supplier specific data models, Hyndla’s full-detailed models reduce the file-size by 75% or more.

Electrical engineering

The Hyndla philosophy is: Understand how Earthing, EMC & lightning protection can be combined to ensure the best possible design for all components, both internally and externally. Making the earthing concept as efficent as possible minimizes the need for offshore maintenance.

Electrical services:

  • Earthing & Bonding concepts

  • OVP, Scada, LV panel descriptions

  • Harting guide

  • Electrical schematic report

  • In house developed cable measurement tool

  • In house 3D modelling of cable management

  • Component lists

  • Cable lists

  • Single line diagrams

  • Layout drawings

  • Illumination studies

Technical documentation

We supply all the engineering reports required to meet laws, regulations and standards and to ensure safe construction and operational process for your offshore wind projects. This includes:

  • Earthing concept reports

  • Structural analysis (FEM)

  • Short circuit load analysis of array cables

  • Illumination reports of platform decks and work areas

  • Wave run-up load analysis on handrail, signboards etc.

  • Structural risk analysis of larger structures (i.e. ship impact analysis on foundations)

We are supplier neutral

Our supplier-neutral design packages reduce procurement cost by up to 30%. They also reduce dependencies and facilitate a competitive bid process. The packages give accurate BOMs and installation guidance. We model all equipment across disciplines, such as support, cable tray, junction boxes, pfisterer connectors, brackets, lights, etc., all the while remaining supplier-neutral.

Hyndla Open Source Production Drawing:

  • No intellectual property. Pay for production & logistics only.

  • Ready to source at mechanical shops around the world:

    • increasing local content.

    • lowering price and carbon footprint.

    • decreasing delivery time.

  • Can be adjusted to fit any system.

Engineering Liability

Hyndla works under contractual agreements rather than a “supplier - free of charge design.”

Under contractual agreements Hyndla can ensure your projects are carried out under the proper insurances, in time, and under known conditions, securing the scope of work between your company and Hyndla.
This reduces HSE risk, corporate social responsibility risk,  delivery assurance risk, financial risk and operational risk for all stakeholders and particularly the project owner.

Structural analysis (FEA analysis)

Hyndla develops in-house CAD-to-FEM solutions that allows us to rapidly transition into the accurate, non-linear world of Impetus Solver, where extreme mechanics can be simulated with precision and robustness. Static problems such as wind loads can also be solved.

This allows us to handle a wide range of problems. The CAD-to-FEM algorithms give us flexibility to use custom designs, add connections, interfaces, and attach equipment in our analyses in an efficient manner.

We are experts in using the FEA software Impetus Solver, a computational mechanics game changer.
